As though her killer moveset wasn't enough...Why Ginchiyo?
Personally, I love Ginchiyo because she's strong, independent, tough, properly dressed and proves that women can and do equal men. Unlike other characters in the Warriors series, she doesn't bow down to men, doesn't do as men will her to do and certainly doesn't spend her entire story mode following around a man like a lost sheep. She makes up her own mind, uses her own brain and doesn't play the weak, self-pitying victim. She gets on with it. She is proud of her achievements and her skill, and rightly so; she is physically and mentally strong, and doesn't need the approval of others.
She's also very attractive, and doesn't need to dress like a 'lady of the night' to show it off like so many other female game characters do. As a female gamer, I do appreciate it when game developers concentrate on the personality of a woman in-game, rather than just tarting her up to cater to sad, unfulfilled middle-aged fantasies or to appeal to overly hormonal teenage boys. Most people have some shallow desires fulfilled with game characters (hi, Cao Cao), but the difference between male and female characters is that male characters are usually bulked out with (a) clothes and (b) a personality.
Dynasty Warriors recently moved away from daring to have women with minds of their own (say goodbye to your brain, Yue Ying) so it is refreshing to have Samurai Warriors to go back to where - like or dislike them - the women still have a personality each and do not base their existence on the needs of their other halves, or have to follow each and every sentence with "my darling", "my love" or "my husband".
Ginchiyo just happens to have a personality that I like. She strives hard to prove herself equal to men in a male dominated society, and she succeeds. She's not sappy or sentimental, but she looks after those she cares about and is loyal and honourable.
